Marjorie Lorraine Hallifax

March 1, 1925 — March 29, 2023

Marjorie L. Hallifax passed away March 29, 2023, peacefully at home in the hands of her daughter Leigh Ann and granddaughter Michelle.

Marjorie was born on March 1, 1925, in Hastings, Michigan, the daughter of Burr and Beatrice (Vanderbook) Laubaugh.  She was a 1943 graduate of Hastings High School.  She worked at Hastings Manufacturing Piston Rings over 30 years, retiring in 1984.

Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Rebekahs Lodge for over 50 years, and the UAW Local 138.  Marjorie enjoyed working out in her flower beds and yard, which was always so beautiful.  She loved digging in the dirt, but always cleaning and washing everything in her house.  You would never find anything dirty or out of place in her home.  Marjorie, along with her sister Lorraine, would challenge anyone to a good game of Euchre.  But most of all, Marjorie loved putting together family events every year, especially at Easter, cooking all of her homemade goodies and getting an egg hunt together and buying kites for the grandchildren to fly out on the family farm, where she still lived.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, sons Michael and Scott Hallifax, brother Dale Laubaugh, sister Lorraine (Lavern) Guthrie, brother Kenneth (Janet) Laubaugh, great-great granddaughter Kaydence Hallifax.

She is survived by her children Robert Hallifax, Jr. of Galesburg, Thomas C. and Susan Hallifax of Grand Rapids, Leigh Ann and Ed Harris of Hastings, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren, and special family friend, Angie.
