Martin Leroy Sobleskey

Martin Leroy "Marty" Sobleskey, known affectionately as "Sonny" to his close friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, in Hastings, Michigan. He was born on August 18, 1940, in Cheboygan, Michigan, the son of Walter Sr. and Nancy (Kilmer) Sobleskey.

On July 18, 1981, Marty married Marola Kay Grinnell, and they enjoyed 43 years together.

Marty proudly served his country in the US Army. His work life was a testament to his dedication and love for the land. He worked as a farmhand, spending over 35 years at Olson's Dairy Farm, until the age of 79, where his hard work and commitment were as steadfast as the changing seasons.

Marty was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Marty was a man who could never sit still, always finding a new project to embark on or wood to cut. His hands were rarely at rest.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, his eleven siblings, father-in-law Alden Grinnell, mother-in-law Caroll Erb, stepfather-in-law Robert Erb, and brother-in-law Carlin Grinnell.

He is survived by his wife Marola Sobleskey, his son, Tristen (Jennifer) Sobleskey, and his grandson, Brennen Sobleskey and step-son Andrew Knight,  his siblings Laurie Pearsall, Norma Pott, Gerald Sobleskey, and Ron Sobleskey, as well as several nieces and nephews.
