Michael David Putkela

Michael David Putkela, of Hastings, passed away on June 26, 2026, his 60th birthday. He was born on June 26, 1966, to David Henry and Jane Elizabeth (Aho) Putkela.

Michael graduated from Ontonagon Area High School in 1984 and continued his education at State Technical Institute, graduating in 1986. He built a career as a CAD/CAM computer drafting specialist with Recaro in Battle Creek, where he was known for his skill and dedication.

In his free time, Michael enjoyed fishing, kayaking, hiking, reading, and spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for family and friends. He found happiness in the outdoors and took pleasure in life's simple moments.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Abbie.

Michael is survived by his sister, Barbara (Juan) Falcon; nephews, Joshua and Jeremy Falcon; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who will remember him fondly.

A Celebration of Life service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
