Michael James Shaneck passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, in Hastings, Michigan. Mike was born on December 15, 1949, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of James Shaneck and Shirley (Martin) Metzger.
Mike served his country with honor and distinction for four and a half years during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Mike dedicated 44 years to Bradford White, retiring in 2013. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace in fishing and hunting, often venturing up north sightseeing to take in the tranquility of nature. However, it was the time spent with his family that he cherished above all else. His laid-back demeanor, caring nature, and outgoing personality made every gathering with family and friends a memorable event, and he especially enjoyed socializing at Richie's with his friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Ann Shaneck. He is survived by his brother, Larry (Lina) Shaneck; step-children, Christine (Steve) Frenthway, Teresa Bartlett, and Jeff (Kristine) Morgan; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the entire Salazar family. Mike's long-time companion, Margaret Mishler, stood by his side through the years, sharing in the love and laughter that defined his life.
His was a life that exemplified the beauty of simplicity, the strength of character, and the power of a life focused on family, friends, and the pursuit of happiness.
Following Mike's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home. To leave an online condolence visit www.girrbachfuneralhome.net.
