Nancy Lee Bird

Nancy Lee Bird age 76 of Hastings, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at her residence.

Nancy was born September 11, 1937 the daughter of Harold Richard and Alice Louise (Secord) Rice.

She worked for Baby Bliss in Nashville and Middleville. Nancy also worked as an afternoon cook at Thornapple Manor, retiring from there, due to health reasons.

She was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Nancy loved crocheting, painting, playing cards with the "Thursday Group", reading, spending time with her family and spoiling her pet cat, Casey.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Harold Rice (1943), mother, Alice Baratta (1985), step-father, Sam Baratta (1986), sister, Gladys Choma (2003) and step-daughter, Diane (2002).

She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Vern) Goodman of Nashville, MI, Dorothy (Bob) James of Garner, NC, step-daughter, Kathy (Bill) Cornell of East Lansing, MI, step-sons: Jim Bird of Laingsburg, MI and John Jones of Conway, AR, 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sister, Ann Rice of Sun Prairie, WI, brother, Keith (Pat) Rice of West Chicago, IL, many nieces and nephews and her loving cat, Casey.

Services for Nancy will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Free Methodist Church, 2635 N. M-43 Hwy, Hastings. Visitation: 2pm - 3pm. Funeral Service at 3:00pm.
