Nancy Ann Gray, age 84, went to her rest on February 25, 2023.
Nancy was born on June 8, 1938, in Monessen, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Michael and Helen Kuvinka. She completed high school in 1956 and graduated from a Pennsylvania Teacher's College in 1960.
Nancy taught high school English in Southeastern Michigan for 30 years. She was also chairman of the English department for over 10 years.
Nancy was an avid reader of mystery novels, loved old movie musicals, and enjoyed live theater – both plays and big Broadway productions. She greatly admired William Shakespeare, Winston Churchill and Queen Elizabeth II. She was an enthusiastic anglophile and visited England many times with her daughter. She loved the NFL….especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and had a soft spot for the Detroit Lions. Nancy devoted much energy to the American Red Cross as a longtime volunteer. She also rescued and gave a loving home to many needy stray cats. She was a wonderfully supportive Mother who will be much missed by her daughter and son-in-law.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Helen, and her sibling, Michael, and his wife Virginia.
She is survived by her husband Charlie Gray, Jr., daughter Adele and son-in-law Jim of Delton, Michigan, Laura Lockwood, her sisters Susan (Dennis) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Kathie (Robert) of Columbus, Ohio, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and beloved cat Frankie.
