Neal Ernest Wilkins

Neal E. Wilkins, age 67 of Freeport passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 22, 1944 in Hastings, the son of Ernest and Beulah (Kidder) Wilkins. Neal attended Thornapple Kellogg High School, graduating in 1964.

He honorably served in the US Army, during the Viet Nam War era. Neal worked for the Viking Corporation, where he retired from in 2007. He married Sandra L. Lucas, August 20, 1983. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR racing.

Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Beulah Wilkins.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Wilkins of Freeport, daughter, Shannon Wilkins; stepsons: Joseph and Brian Gillum; granddaughter, Mackenzie Gillum; Inlaws: Chester and Mira Snyr, Mike and Wanda Simpson, Don and Terry Barley, Robert and Rowena Bennett and Eddie and Beverly Bennett.

Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are being held.
