Peggy Lee Smith, age 66 of Hastings, Michigan, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at her residence.
Peggy was born on September 5, 1951 in Hastings, Michigan, the daughter of Merle D. and Joyce Joan (Smith) Hammond. She graduated from Delton High School and Ferris State College with a degree in Medical Technology. Peggy married Charles Smith on October 9, 1982 and they enjoyed 35 years together.
Peggy worked for Pennock Hospital, retiring in 2016. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, playing the Words with Friends app, spending time with family and fishing... if the fish were biting.
She was preceded in death by her father, Merle Hammond and sister, Alicia Eichenauer.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Charles Smith of Hastings, children, Ben (Abby Deneau) Rhodes of Lansing, MI, Andy (Deanna) Rhodes of Hastings, MI, Lynnette Smith of Lansing, MI, Oletta (Rob) Fenton of Wyoming, MI, grandchildren, Morgan, Sabrina, Desirae, Dominic, Jacob, Amber, Drew, Andrea, and Lucas, mother, Joyce Hammond of Englewood, FL, sister, Julie Martini of Englewood, FL, brother, and Norm Hammond of Dowling, MI.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. Private Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Banfield Cemetery.
