Phillip K. Walldorff passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 11, 2023. He was born on April 17, 1940, in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Robert and Geraldine Walldorff. He is survived by his daughter Tara, son Dan, loving partner Sharon and her boys Marc (Andrea) and Chad (Mindy) including four grandchildren and one great grandchild, his sister Sally and her boys Hollis and Aaron and their extended families. He was preceded in death most recently by his aunt Helen (Walldorff) Prahl, whom he loved dearly.
He was the fourth generation to be a part of the Walldorff Funeral Home and Furniture Business. When his father retired, he took over the furniture store in downtown Hastings which he ran for decades. He eventually expanded to the building next door and added The Celler Corner Gifts and Gadgets. In the eighties, he did renovations on the building which prompted the Barry County Historical Society's Historical Building Award designating it the Walldorff Building and helped renew interest in preserving our downtown. He would want to thank all the employees and customers that helped over the years.
He was very talented and crafty, from helping design and build his house to making amazing cabinetry and stained glass, to fixing a jukebox or building dune buggies with his friends. If he didn't know how to do it, he would figure it out. He always loved anything to do with water and was an accomplished sailor and skier at a very young age. He had a smile and laugh that would light up a room and loved to entertain and promote fun and laughter and that's why he didn't want a funeral, but a celebration of life, which is currently being planned. He wouldn't want anyone to mourn but remember the good things.
Thank you all for the support we have already received and will receive. Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home, If you have any good thoughts or pictures, please add them to Phil's obituary page at https://www.girrbachfuneralhome.net/obituary/phillip-walldorff, the Celebration of Life dates and times will be posted here as well.
