Richard F. Bennett

Richard was born on April 27, 1924 in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Forrest and Ethel (Warner) Bennett. He attended Hastings Area Schools. Richard honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Richard married Nancy Shackell on December 4, 1946. He was a lifetime member of the Nashville VFW and also a member of the NRA. Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He was very patriotic and proud to be an American. Richard was very devoted to his family. He and Nancy just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on December 4th, 2013.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Ethel Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bennett, son, Terry (Christine) Bennett, daughter, Sally (Don) Hutchinson, grandson, Brad (Loni) Bennett, granddaughters: Shannon Wilson (Doug Beasley), Angie (Mike) Cronen, Kristy (Jeff) Warner and many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW or Wounded Warriers.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 12:00 pm at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings with a one hour visitation time from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Pastor Jason Thiel will officiate the service.
