Richard "Dick" Carlin

Richard Carlin (Dick) age 92 of Richland, Michigan passed away December 18, 2019 at Borgess Place in Kalamazoo.  Dick was born August 2, 1927 in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Elza and Ardis (Miske) Carlin.  Richard graduated from Hastings High School in 1945.  He worked as a machinist, welder and self-employed as a cabinet maker, retiring in 1991.

On August 31, 1948 in Angola, Indiana, he married Margaret (Belson) Carlin.  He enjoyed bowling, glass and china painting, antique restoration, playing cards and watching auto racing both NASCAR and Indy Car.  He was an avid dog lover.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Patrick (Jim) Bailey and great-granddaughter Ashley Melson, 3 brothers-in-law, and 3 sisters-in-law.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, daughter Roberta Bailey of Battle Creek, MI, son James (Phyllis) Carlin of Kalamazoo, MI, grandchildren Larry McNees of Battle Creek, MI, Jolene (Bob) Reed, Joe (Becky) Carlin, Carl Carlin all of Comstock, MI, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his boy Chewy.

The family would like to thank the staff of Borgess Place and Heartland Hospice Care for their tender care in Dick's time of need.
