Richard Blakney Sharp

Richard (Dick) Blakney Sharp, 84, of Hastings Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2023. He will be greatly missed by many people. He was the son of Durell and Helen Sharp.

After graduating from Hastings High School, he served honorably in the US Air Force for four years. Upon returning, he worked for Hastings Manufacturing Company for the remainder of his career as a draftsman and design engineer. He loved helping his friends, neighbors, and community with his many talents as a builder and problem solver. He was actively involved in the Presbyterian Church and went on numerous mission trips. His hobbies included film photography, cooking, gardening, telling jokes, and golfing as much as possible.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Phillip. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Patel (Jeff Wettig); his son Robert (Tracy Sharp); grandchildren Dylan Patel, Sabrina Patel, and Rowan Sharp; and his ex-wife Judy Spencer.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 15 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, with Military Honors at 6:30, at Girrbach Funeral Home at 238 South Broadway in Hastings.
