Richard Henry Whidden

Richard Henry Whidden, age 77, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on December 4, 2023.

Rick was born on March 16, 1946, in Arcadia, Florida, the son of Robert and June Whidden.  He attended Lee Daniel School in Bokeelia, Florida.

Rick worked as a commercial fisherman and in the boating industry, and also worked maintenance at Cracker Barrel.

On January 15, 1999, Rick married Sheila (Brown) Black Whidden, and they enjoyed 23 years together until her passing in 2022.

Rick enjoyed sports, including golf, baseball, and playing bingo.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pine Island, Florida.  He loved to perform karaoke and was a country music fan.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Robert Whidden, sister Lisa Lorraine Whidden, and wife Sheila (Brown) Black Whidden.

He is survived by his stepchildren Darla (Dr. Scott) Bloom, Deana (John) Brownlow, Darrell (Tina Echelbarger) Black, Ken (Kathleen) Black, Col. Bill (Kimberly) Black, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
