Ronald James Frye, age 79, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on June 5, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Ronald was born on October 27, 1946, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Ronald Jason and Barbara (Rounds) Frye. He graduated from Hastings High School with the Class of 1965 and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a teletype operator and armored personnel carrier operator.
On December 14, 2002, he married Bonnie Jean Terpening. Ronald worked for 18 years as a foreman and Hi-Lo driver at the Interstate Warehouse in Hudsonville, retiring in 2007. He also faithfully served as pastor of churches in Kansas City, Kansas, and White Cloud, Michigan.
Ronald enjoyed fishing, working on small engines, riding horses, spending time at Richie’s Restaurant, and was a devoted student and scholar of the Bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother, John Nathaniel Frye.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Frye; children Shawn (Angie) Frye, Nathan (Kim) Frye, and Shannon (Tony) Frye; stepchildren Tami (Ray) Johnson, Teri (Charles) Gray, and Tony (Amanda) Eisner; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters Judy Myters, Patricia Whiting, Connie (Bob) Barnes, Dawn (Terry) Cappon, Janet (Rick) VanEnger, and Heidi (Aaron) Daane.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 noon at Thornapple Valley Church, 2750 M-43, Hastings, MI 49058. A luncheon will follow the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Girrbach Funeral Home. To leave online condolences, please visit www.girrbachfuneralhome.net.
