Russell Lee Shaneck passed away on August 12, 2019 at the age of 78. He was born on August 12, 1941, the son of Raymond and Marceil (Elliston) Shaneck. In December of 1990, he married Patricia Honeysett.
Russell attended school in Nashville, Michigan, where he played football and baseball. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 224 for 25 years and owned The Bears Den in Caramat, Ontario for seven years from 1975 to 1982.
Russell was an avid outdoors man and loved bowhunting for black bear, fishing, as well as riding motorcycles, dirt bikes and snowmobiles. He was also involved with softball leagues until he was 35 years old.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, niece Cynthia Shaneck, and father-in-law Marshall Honeysett. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia Honeysett, sons Steven (Laurie) Shaneck of Norway, MI, Martin (Tracy) Shaneck of Plainwell, MI, sister Judy (Nyle) Briggs of Battle Creek, brother Richard (Sherry) Shaneck of Hastings, and step-children James (Dawn) Keller of Hastings, Shannon Keller of Hastings, Erin (Rob) Redman of Delton, David (Linda) Keller of Hastings, and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
A family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 3355 Eagle Park Drive, NE; Suite 102; Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
