Scott was known first and foremost for his love for the Lord. He embraced the opportunity to share God's love with others. His ministry knew no limits - from worship at the county jail to worship at the local mission and anywhere he could encourage someone through sharing God's light and word. He greatly enjoyed serving the Lord through his music - writing and playing songs to glorify God. He was especially blessed to achieve his life goal of traveling to Africa, where he joined his long-time friends visiting churches, praying for others, and spreading the word of God.
He dearly loved and treasured his family and never let an opportunity pass without telling them he loved them. He enjoyed family get-togethers - especially if a competitive game of cornhole was involved. He deeply loved his dogs - Boy Boy and Pickles, who were always by his side.
Scott was known for helping anyone he could - whether that meant helping with moving, construction, yard clean-up, or just talking and providing support. He would give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it.
Scott was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved fishing for Walleye, Bass and Pike. He didn't mind if it was ice fishing or out on a lake or stream on a beautiful afternoon.
The son of Herbert and Jane (Jordan) Hesterly he was the youngest of 2 children. He grew up in the city of Hastings, but loved spending time on the family farm.
Scott is survived by his sister Kimberly (Hesterly) and Brent Hassevoort; Nephew Daniel Payne Jr, Niece Jessica and Thomas Plochocki Jr.; Great Nieces and Nephew Ashley, Sarah, Bailey and Bryce. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Herbert and Jane Hesterly; Grand Parents Carl and Mildred Jordan and Charles and Hildred Hesterly. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
