Shari Lou DeWitt

Shari Lou DeWitt, age 67, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away June 1, 2026, in Hastings. She was born August 2, 1958, in Cadillac, Michigan, to Robert Gregory and Sharon Louise (Drill) Mellinger.

Shari was a homemaker who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sewing quilts, crocheting, knitting, fishing on the Thornapple River, and taking motorcycle trips on the Harley with her husband, Vern. Above all, she treasured time spent watching and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vern DeWitt; and her sister, Barbara Branch.

Shari is survived by her son, Stanley (Tammy) Norris, Jr.; daughter, Toni (Joseph) Hendrick; grandchildren Brandon Sweat, Kevin Sweat, Ryan Hendrick, and Kara Hendrick; five great-grandchildren; sisters Margie Mellinger, Kristy Mellinger, and Shelly (Joe) Nemeth; along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Thornapple Valley Church Hastings Campus with a luncheon to follow. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
