Shirley Jean Wendell age 71 of Hastings, died Wednesday February 12, 2014 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Shirley was born November 22, 1942 in Newton, Kentucky , the daughter of Charles and Onita Jenkins.
She was employed at Flex Fab in Hastings from 1979 to 1997. She also worked for several years at Viking Corp. in Hastings.
She enjoyed Knitting, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, fishing, boating, and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Wendell, and a daughter Vicki Schaeff.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Marian Golyar of Hastings, granddaughters, Shauna Golyar (Doug Lynch) of Delton, Kathy (Jason) Dayus of Hastings, great-grandchildren, Jason, Alex, and Allyson Dayus, a sister Marilyn (Larry) Bell of Kentuck.
Respecting her wishes cremation has taken place . A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday February 22, 2014 at her home from 2pm to 4pm.
