Spencer Thomas Krul

It is with an unbearable heaviness of heart that we must say goodbye to a special soul taken far too soon.

Spencer Thomas Krul passed away on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, after a lengthy health battle. Throughout his entire ordeal, he faced his challenges with courage and strength, right up until the morning he slipped away while resting peacefully with his mother at his side.

Born in Jackson, Michigan on July 4th, 1970, Spencer spent most of his childhood and early adult years in Hastings, Michigan, playing little league baseball, attending Hastings High School (Class of '88), and fostering a vibrant community of friends. He ventured out into new and exciting territory, residing in Florida, California, and Oregon, before eventually returning to the home he knew best in Hastings.

A natural charmer, Spencer always managed to light up a room whenever he entered it with his bright smile and infectious laugh. He marched to his own drum and met the world on his terms. Professionally, he was well known for his dedicated years working for CCRG (Commonwealth Cultural Resources Group) as a GIS Field Technician doing archaeological surveys. He also spent several years merging his work and leisure in the world of golf.

Spencer is preceded in death by his father, Thomas, and survived by a loving and caring family, starting with his dedicated mother, Linda Weir, and step-father, Donald, as well as his siblings, Jeffrey (Sandi), Melissa (Kris), Justin (Melissa), Karessa (Brian), Andy (Alicia), his long-time partner, Michelle, beloved nieces and nephews, and loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no formal service at this time, but a celebration of his memory will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Barry County Animal Shelter, as Spencer was a tremendous lover of dogs including his dogs Ziggy and Hazel.
