Susan Jeanne Long

Susan Jeanne Long (Graham) passed on to Heaven early Friday morning, August 2, 2013.

Susan was born in Detroit but was raised and attended school in Parchment, Michigan. As a young adult, Susan spent her summers with her family at their lake house on Gun Lake in the Hastings, Michigan area.

Susan married in 1968, divorced in 2000, and she had her only child Scott in 1977.

Susan was an accomplished LPN and worked in surgery at Sparrow Hospital until Scott was born. She and her family eventually moved to the Hastings area from Lansing where they farmed. After a few years of being a stay-at-home mom, Susan went back to nursing, first in Hastings at Tendercare nursing home in 1984, and then at Thornapple Manor nursing home in 1994 where she worked until she retired in the Fall of 2012.

Susan loved gardening, she loved being on the water in the summertime, she loved her friends and family, and most of all she loved her dogs.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Barbara Graham (Crocker) and Lewis Graham, and her Uncle Frank Crocker.

Susan is survived by her son Scott Morrell-Long (Dustin), her sisters Karen Graham-Taylor (Dan), and Patti Whitlock, her niece Molly, her nephew Cameron, her Aunt Bea, her four Cousins Peggy, Cathy, Bill and Bob, her three best friends Rod Crothers, Susan Larke and Linda Furrow, and her three dogs Bogie, Lucy and Emma.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2013 at the Girrbach Funeral Home (Corner of S. Broadway and Green Street, Hastings, MI 49058) at 12:00pm, with a visitation that same day at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Susan's name to Thornapple Manor C/O Girrbach Funeral Home 328 S. Broadway Hastings,Mi.49058, the funds will be donated by Susan's son for a needed program at Thornapple Manor.
