Pastor Susan Dell Olsen age 67, of Freeport, passed away at The Laurels of Kent in Lowell, Michigan, on Saturday June 27, 2015, and went to be with the Lord.
Susan was born November 27, 1947 in Ludington, Michigan. the daughter of Lester and Dorothy (Tobey) Wolf.
She married Robert Olsen June 14, 1970. Susan graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelors degree in French and Math.
She worked several jobs including working in a nursing home and later teaching piano lessons out of her home .
Susan's passion was to be a Pastor, she attended License to Preach School in the summer of 1996. She completed her coursework and took her first pastoral job at Hesperia and Ferry United Methodist Church, while concurrently teaching French at local High schools.
Susan would later pastor at Gobles and Kendall United Methodist Churches, and in 2004 moved to Mount Pleasant and pastored for three United Methodist Churches there.
Susan was currently Pastor at Welcome Corners United Methodist Church in Hastings, Freeport United Methodist Church and Peace United Methodist Church in Nashville.
She enjoyed reading, drawing, punching embroidery, and playing the piano. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and a University of Michigan Alumni.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Dorothy Wolf, and her in-laws, Edward and Frances Olsen.
Susan is survived by her husband Robert Olsen, several cousins, in-law's Carl (Susan) Olsen, and Judith Somers.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 1, 2015 at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings from 2:00-5:00pm.
The funeral service will be held Thursday July 2, 2015 at the Freeport United Methodist Church in Freeport, Michigan at 11:00am. Officiating will be Certified Lay Minister Mickey Ann Cousino.
Following the Funeral service Susan will be cremated and interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Freesoil Michigan at a later date.
