Thomas Noel Babcock

Thomas N. Babcock, age 88 of Hastings, passed away June 12, 2018 at Magnum Care in Hastings.

Thomas was born on December 22, 1929 in Warren, Michigan, the son of Cecil Henry and Helen Viola (Stevens) Babcock.  He was raised in the Sandusky, Michigan area and moved to Hastings as a young adult.  Thomas graduated in 1948 from Sandusky High School.

Thomas worked for Buskirk Lumber Company in Freeport, Michigan as a Log Truck Driver for 50 plus years.  After leaving Buskirk Lumber he started his own business, Foresterys, which he ran until retirement.    He married Helen Elliott on April 25, 1981.  Thomas enjoyed watching sports of any kind.  He was a Big Michigan State fan.  Thomas was a member of the Mason's and the Moose Lodge in Hastings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Helen Babcock, sons:  Thomas N. Babcock Jr. (2007), Daniel R. Babcock (2009), Frederick (Sam) Babcock (2002), step-daughter, Cathy Hughes (2000), and sister, Patricia Cummings (2005).

Thomas is survived by his wife, Helen M. Babcock of Hastings, daughter, Debra Johnson of IL, son, Robert Babcock of Marlett, MI, step-daughters, Nancy (Del) Haight of ND, Connie (Dan) Reinke of Freeport, MI, step-sons, Theodore Bird, Jr. of Hastings, MI, Bill (Hope) Bird of Hastings, MI, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and sister, Linda (Dave) Donaldson of St. Clair, MI.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Family or a Charity of One's Choice.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.
