Valerie A. Becker, 87, of Naples, Florida; Saginaw, MI; Tawas, MI, passed on August 3, 2024. She is survived by sons Robert T. Jr. (Joan) and John S. (Ellen), daughter-in-law Brenda Becker; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters Mrs. Lorene (Don) Kirby and Mrs. Margaret (Rick) Fantucci, and brother Jim Leverton (Deb). She was preceded in death by her husband Robert T. Becker and son Jeffery G. Becker.
She was born August 14, 1936, in Royal Oak, MI. Val is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University (where she met and married the love of her life), Central Michigan University, Michigan State University and Wayne State University. Val worked in a variety of positions with the Saginaw Public Schools teacher, principal and was the principal of the first Gifted and Talented school for SPS, she also served as the Director of Fine Arts for Dearborn Public Schools. Val finished her career as the National Education Coordinator for Chrysler Motors, where her World of Work initiative received a "Point of Light" award from President George H.W. Bush.
She was an avid reader and coordinated a Naples book club and served in many roles for the Naples Foundation for Fighting Blindness. Val was a loving and beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend, she touched the lives of so many.
Memorial services will be held on August 17, 2024 at 11:00 am at Tawas Area Presbyterian Church, Tawas City, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Val's name to Foundation for Fighting Blindness, 6925 Oakland Mills Rd #7 Columbia, MD 21045 Att.
