Valerie Marie Mcintyre

Valerie Marie McIntyre, age 60, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on June 25, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.

Valerie was born in Hastings on February 6, 1965, the beloved daughter of David and Lois (Warner) McIntyre. She attended St. Rose of Lima School and graduated from Hastings High School in 1984. Valerie worked for many years at McDonald's in Hastings.

As a youth, she was an active member of the Yeckley 4-H Club, showing ponies and earning numerous ribbons, including the Best Showman pin in the Junior Division. Her fun-loving competitive spirit came through in her love of card games—where she was often, affectionately, accused of stretching the rules—and in board games with family and friends. She also enjoyed watching The Price is Right and Little House on the Prairie.

Valerie was deeply devoted to her family and treasured time spent with her children, nieces, and nephews. A lifelong supporter of Hastings sports, she was often seen cheering at football, basketball, and cheerleading events. She was also a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she served as an altar server for many years.

Valerie is survived by her parents, David and Lois McIntyre of Hastings; daughter, Kimberly Beck of Hastings; son, Maurice McIntyre of Flint, MI; siblings, John (Ying) McIntyre, of Ban Chang, Thailand, Dan (Maria) McIntyre of Delton, MI, and Cheryl (Tom) Laws of Delton, MI; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S Broadway; Hastings, MI 49058. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 805 S Jefferson St, Hastings, MI 49058. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Hastings.
