Verle Krammin

Verle (Melinn) Krammin, age 82 of Hastings, Michigan passed away on March 11, 2021.  Verle was born on October 3, 1938, in North Dorr, Michigan to Martin and Effie (Stein) Melinn.  They moved to Wyoming, Michigan where she attended Holy Name School and Catholic Central, graduating in 1956.

Verle met Charles Krammin at the Dixie Inn in Bradley, Michigan, square and round dancing to Rem Wall and the Green Valley Boys.  She married Charles on December 1, 1963.  They bought an 80-acre farm 4 miles east of Hastings, Michigan where Charles farmed and worked at the E.W. Bliss while Verle raised the family in an old farm house, with many challenges.

She donated her time to St. Rose School and Church and the Hastings Library.  She and Charles were instrumental in getting the Hastings Township voters to approve an operating millage for the Hastings Library.  Verle also was active in the library volunteer's organization in many fundraising efforts.  After her three children were raised, she worked for Hastings Mutual Insurance Company and later for the Hastings Orthopedic Doctors for many years until her retirement.  She and Charles visited, hiked, and camped many National Parks along the Pacific Coast.

Verle was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Clair and Francis Melinn, and brother-in-law Conrad (Agnes) Krammin.

She is survived by her loving husband Charles, her children, Daniel Krammin of Hastings, Amy (David) Shao of Palo Alto, California, Joseph "Joe" (Janet) Krammin of Richland, Michigan, grandchildren Jack Krammin, Katie, Rhys, her sisters Rosemary (Mike) Cheslock of Grand Rapids, Patricia (Jerry) Huttenga of Byron Center, Ann Marie (Russell) Plummer of Jenison, and sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Charles) McEachin of Fennville, Vicky Melinn of Wyoming, and Mary Melinn of Byron Center, brother-in-law Paul Krammin of New Mexico, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 805 S Jefferson St, Hastings, MI 49058 with no visitation due to COVID restrictions.  The service will be livestreamed at www.Facebook.com/GirrbachFuneralHome . Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Wyoming, Michigan.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Verle's memory can be made to St. Rose of Lima Church or the Hastings Public Library.  Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home.
