Wanda Rose Hughes

July 5, 1930 — September 18, 2022

Wanda Rose Hughes (Adkins), formerly of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022.  She was the loving wife of Owen O Hughes, who proceeded her in death in 2002.  She is survived by her daughters, Della Lee Hughes (Don Carter) and Tina Lorene Hughes (Bill Schmitzer) and her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren including Christopher Owen Erwin, his wife Carrie, and three daughters Ava Lynn, Callie Grace, and Mia Jaclyn; Brooke Lynn Rose Cruz, her husband Alex, and daughter Sofia Rose; Emily Greeley, her husband Nate, and daughter Ellie Schafer; and Jonathan Carter, his partner Cassie Thorpe, and son Owen Hughes Carter.

Wanda truly enjoyed her family and friends.  She liked to travel and experience new adventures.  After working for the State of Michigan she and Owen wintered in Brownsville, Texas. She learned to golf at age 70 and continued to enjoy the sport well into her 80's. She was a loving, independent, fun-loving woman with a beautiful smile that would light up her eyes.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org . There will be a private family service and she will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon, Illinois. Services provided by Girrbach Funeral Home, Hastings, Michigan.
