Wayne D. Tanner

June 9, 1913 — February 4, 2008

Wayne D. Tanner, age 94, son of Elsie and Maude (Working) Tanner, left this earth to be with the Lord on February 4, 2008 at his residence. Wayne was preceded in death by his soul mate of almost 70 years, Grace (Bekkering) Tanner, 2 brothers, Forrest and Nobel Tanner, his wonderful son, Dale and daughter in-law, Gail (Clough) Tanner. Wayne worked for Richmond Brothers, People Outfitters, Hercules Powder, he was also a house painter, and he also worked for Upjohns where he was a supervisor Fine Chemicals and then taught Operations , the job her retired from after 30 years. Wayne graduated from State High School and had 2 years at Western Michigan University. He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Dave) King of Hastings where he lived for the past 2 1/2 years. Bringing wisdom, Joy and laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Also surviving is his youngest brother, Richard (Margaret) Tanner of Portage, his grandchildren, Steve (Melaine) Tanner of Richland, Darci Coleman of Richland, Jennifer Owens of Col.,Ohio, Jason (Joanne) Foley of Col. Ohio, Rebecca (Mike) Elton of Hamilton Mi., Jacob King of Bowing Green,Mi., 13 great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed , but he left behind enough memories for us to smile and laugh, each of our remaining days, we look forward to seeing him again when we make our journey to heaven. There will be a memorial service at the Hastings First Baptist Church ,The Open Door, this Saturday February 9, 2008 at 1:00pm with a luncheon to follow until 3:00pm. Pastor Dan Currie officiating, Memorials can be made to Barry Community Hospice, 450 Meadow Run Hastings,Michigan 49058. Truly Angels are among us & they are at Hospice. Burial will be at Mount- Everest Cemetery .Arrangements are by the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings. You may leave a message or memory to the family at (girrbachfuneralhome.net).
