William (Bill) Dean VanDenburg, age 67, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on March 14, 2020. Bill was born on June 3, 1952 in Hastings, Michigan, the son of Robert and June VanDenburg.
Bill attended Altoft Country School, graduating from Hastings High School in 1970. He worked with his father at Safety Service for many years before buying and opening Bill's Safety Service. After retirement, he drove for Schwan's for many years, and enjoyed it.
Bill took pleasure in hunting deer and game birds, fishing, fly-tying, playing tennis, cross country skiing, gardening, reading, especially his beloved Stephen King books, enjoying his favorite foods, lemon cake with lemon frosting, cookies, and popcorn, and spending time with family.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Robert VanDenburg.
He is survived by his mother June VanDenburg, daughter Kelli (Aaron) Newberry, son Derek (Sarah) VanDenburg, grandchildren Aaron, Andrew, and Kennedy Newberry, Emma and Adrianne VanDenburg, all of Hastings, brothers David (Jane) VanDenburg of Gwinn, Michigan, brother James VanDenburg of Hastings, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces, his beloved dogs Gus and Lexi, his kitty, Oreo, and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Bill to the Barry County Serenity Club or the Barry County Animal Shelter.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Charlton Park Pavilion, 2545 S Charlton Park Rd, Hastings, MI 49058. Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home, to leave an online condolence, visit www.girrbachfuneralhome.com.
