Wilma I. (Cappon, Litchfield) Spaeth, Age 97, of Webberville, MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Wilma was born on March 15, 1920, in Prairieville, Michigan to Cornelius and Nora (Adrianson) Cappon. Graduated from Woodland High School in 1937.
She was married to Cleo Litchfield for 31 years until his death in 1970, spending most of that time dairy farming. She subsequently married Arnold Spaeth, with whom she was a member of the GMC Motorhome Club, enjoying many years of wintering in Florida and traveling the United States, especially northern Michigan. Wilma was a 75 year member of Degree of Honor. She loved to garden, feed the birds and deer, and she could drive a team of horses or tractor better than most men. She was an active member of Crossroads United Methodist Church for over 20 years, and loved serving others in the kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Cleo Litchfield (d. 1970) and Arnold Spaeth (d. 1991), brothers William and Robert, sisters Winifred and Arlene, and a great-grandson Lance Norton.
Wilma is survived by son Keith Litchfield (Sandie), brother Marshall Dutch Cappon (Vonda), sister Wanda Golden (Russell), grandson Scott Litchfield, granddaughters Kristen Mahoney (Joe) and Patti Norton (Brian), one great grandson, several great-great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lansing.
A gathering to celebrate Wilma's life will be held at Crossroads United Methodist Church, 5491 N. Zimmer Road, Williamston, Michigan, on Thursday November 30, 2017 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. A lunch will be provided.
